These are websites where you can find computer-related FREE STUFF, like
software, sounds, graphics, animations, and web development tools.
The Internet Movie Database
- IMDB.com is THE site for finding information about movies, tv, actors,
and more. It is the single most commonly used website in our
household - we use it several times a day. With IMDB you can find
any actor, director, producer, or other crew member for any movie or TV
show. It will show you every movie and TV show they've ever appeared
in, including guest appearances and even video games! You can find
information about release dates, box office takes, awards, quotes,
trailers, and more! Have you ever been watching a movie and said
"Who is that actor? What have I seen him in before?" Well, IMDB can
tell you!
Rotten Tomatoes
- A new movie's coming out and you're trying to decide whether or not to
see it. If you rely on just one review, you run the risk of reading
a review written by someone who doesn't share your tastes in movies, and
you might be turned off to a movie you would have loved or turned on to a
movie that sucks. Rotten Tomatoes to the rescue! Your one stop
movie review shop! For any given movie, RT compiles as many as
hundreds of reviews from newspapers and websites around the country.
They pull out the best bits of each review and post them on a single page
- you can click on individual bits to read full reviews, or just rely on
the "tomatometer" - which tallies up how many positive and negative
reviews a movie has gotten. The site includes new movies and DVDs as
well as video games.
Entertainment Weekly -
This is the single best entertainment magazine out there (and the only
magazine to which we actually subscribe regularly). It covers TV,
movies, music, books, pop culture... you want it, you got it!
E! Online - The E!
network website can be a great place to find entertainment news and
gossip.
Television
Without Pity - If you missed the last episode of your favorite show,
or if you're just looking for some fun reading, check out TWOP. They
write incredibly detailed and incredibly snarky, sarcastic, and funny
recaps of tons of different shows.
